Q. What types of rebate packages are available through Energy Upgrade CA?
A. There are two packages available: Advanced and Basic. ecoProach is qualified to handle both.
The Advanced Upgrade Package commences with a full energy audit from a certified Energy Upgrade CA participating contractor, such as ecoProach/Chandler Building & Development to properly assess your home. From there, remediation is performed, and once complete, your participating contractor will apply on your behalf for your utility incentive. You can apply for additional rebates and incentives where available.
The Basic Upgrade Package is designed to help save energy and keep your home comfortable. Most of your home's energy loss happens due to leaks and insufficient insulation. Your approved contractor will complete the following required measurements: air sealing, attic insulation, duct sealing, hot water pipe insulation, thermostatic shut-off valve, and combustion appliance safety testing. Once the work is complete, your participating contractor will apply on your behalf for your $1,000 fixed utility incentive. You can apply for additional rebates and incentives where available.
Q. How is the rebate amount determined for the Advanced Package?
A. The rebate amount is determined as the result from conducting a comprehensive energy audit of your home, such as the Energy Upgrade California audit package offered by ecoProach, as well as a verification (test-out) audit following the completion of remediation work.
Q. What are the steps to achieve the Advanced Package rebate?
A. First, you must schedule a home energy audit with a participating contractor, such as ecoProach. Once the energy audit has been completed, your energy audit report will have recommended remediation steps for your home as well as a projected rebate amount you could then qualify for. Upon completion of the remediation work, a test-out verification is performed to insure remediation was properly done and to complete the rebate criteria. Test-out verification is the only way to guarantee your rebate!
Q. What does it cost?
A. Chandler Building is the only home energy audit company that offers up to a full 100% credit of your audit cost towards the remediation work, thereby your audit could be free! Assuming your home is under 3000 square feet and has one forced air system, the Energy Upgrade California audit would be $500. This home energy audit includes a Building Performance Institute Building Analyst Evaluation, a HERS forced air system test and inspection, and the ecoProach home combustion/safety/health analysis, as well as a comprehensive physical inspection of their home’s interior and exterior.
Q. How does an ecoProach/Chandler Building home energy audit work?
A. Upon scheduling your audit you will receive a Prep Package. The Prep Package will help you and your home prepare for the audit. The home may be occupied during the audit, however, please keep in mind that all doors and windows must remained closed for the length of the audit. Pets are not affected by the audit.
Please be advised we will enter every room, examine every window, supply register, nook and cranny of your home to perform our professional audit, as well as checking for health and safety issues. The ecoProach professional energy specialists are very sensitive and conscientious of being inside your home, and respectful to your privacy and belongings. We will only examine the areas of your home that pertain to energy, health and safety.
Q. How does the basic package work?
A. Some homes are very deficient in one or two specific areas and some homeowners only wish to have work done in those specific areas, such as insulation, window replacement, etc. The basic package allows the homeowner to select specific energy remediation items. If you qualify, a $1000 rebate can be available for these items.
